The Humber Bay Arch Bridge, crossing the 100 kilometer Humber River where it flows into the Lake Ontario was completed in the mid 1990’s. The Humber River is one of Toronto’s main rivers and was also designated a Canadian Heritage River in 1999. The bridge is part of the 56 kilometer long Martin Goodman Trail that runs along the waterfront in Toronto. To build this pedestrian and bicycle bridge two 1,200 millimetre diameter high-strength steel pipes were bent into twin arches.
